Why My Certifications Matter for Your Trip

Most travel agents can pull up a brochure and read you the same bullet points you already found online. I would rather tell you what the brochure don't say.

I hold specialist certifications with the top river cruise lines because I believe you deserve an agent who has actually been on the ships, sat in the cabins, eaten in the restaurants, and walked the excursions. Every certification below required real training, real travel, and real time invested. Here is what each one means for you when we plan your trip together.

Viking River Cruise Specialist

I have sailed with Viking internationally, including an ocean voyage through China where I visited the Forbidden Palace, the Great Wall, the Terracotta Warriors, and the Temple of Heaven. I also spent time at Jiangxin Island and visited a Chinese foreign language school where I got to share calligraphy and crafts with the students. That trip gave me a perspective on Viking that goes well beyond what you will find on their website.

Viking calls itself "The Thinking Person's Cruise" for a reason. Their ships carry about 190 guests on the rivers, there are no children under 18, no casinos, and no formal nights. The experience is built around destination immersion, included shore excursions at every port, and a pace that lets you actually absorb where you are.

What this means for you: I understand Viking's excursion options, their cabin layouts, how My Viking Journey works for preboarding planning, and the real differences between their ship classes. When you ask me whether Viking is the right fit, I am answering from experience, not from a sales sheet.

AmaWaterways Certified Specialist

I sailed the AmaMagna down the Danube alongside AmaWaterways cofounder Kristin Karst. The AmaMagna is their flagship vessel, the widest river cruise ship on the Danube, and spending time onboard with the woman who cofounded the company gave me a level of insight into how AmaWaterways thinks about their guest experience that most agents simply do not have.

AmaWaterways is the river cruise line I recommend most often for travelers who want an active, food forward experience on the water. Their ships carry between 120 and 180 guests, and what sets them apart is the included bicycle tours, guided hikes, and the Chef's Table specialty restaurant that rivals many of the best dining you will find on shore.

What this means for you: If you are the kind of traveler who wants to get off the ship and move, whether that is a morning bike ride through vineyards or an afternoon hike to a hilltop village, I can match you with the AmaWaterways itinerary that fits. And because I have been on the AmaMagna myself, I can tell you exactly what makes it different from their other ships and whether it is worth the premium.

Certified Tauck Specialist

I earned my Certified Tauck Specialist designation through Tauck Academy, an invitation only training program held onboard the MS Joy. This was not a webinar. I spent days in daily classes and seminars led by Tauck's own team, learning the details that separate Tauck from every other river cruise line on the water.

What I learned matters because Tauck operates differently than most lines. Everything is included: every excursion, every gratuity, every drink, every transfer. There are no surprise charges and no decisions to make about add ons once you are onboard. The ships carry fewer than 130 guests, which means smaller groups at every stop and a more personal experience from the crew.

What this means for you: I know which Tauck itineraries sell out fastest, which cabin categories offer the best value, and which excursions are the real standouts versus the ones that sound good on paper. I can tell you exactly what to expect because I have been there and done the homework most agents skip.

What All of This Adds Up To

When you book through Fancy Fox Travel, you are working with someone who has been on the ships, completed the training programs, and built relationships with the cruise lines themselves. I don't guess. I do not speculate. I tell you what I know from firsthand experience, and when something falls outside my direct knowledge, I say so.

If you are considering a river cruise and want to talk through which line and itinerary fits your travel style, I would love to help you figure it out.
